Mr. Waguespack is skilled in all aspects of development, analysis, valuation, operations, sales, marketing, system design, and specification for material handling facilities. He has more than 20 years of experience working with various bulk commodities at intermodal, multi-modal, and port facilities. As Principal, Development Manager and Project Manager, Mr. Waguespack is integrally involved in all aspects of overseeing a project to fruition, from the conceptual stage to successful construction, commissioning, and start-up. Mr. Waguespack has been responsible for projects valued at over $250 million in capital costs.
Professional Experience
Before joining InterMat, Mr. Waguespack’s most recent position was Vice President of Commercial and Business Development for Watco Companies, where he was responsible for developing, vetting, and evaluating 30–50 prospective terminal development opportunities per annum. Mr. Waguespack’s efforts resulted in the successful turnaround of an underperforming terminals riddled with EPA problems. Mr. Waguespack’s negotiations with the EPA and ability to gain required internal approvals transformed the terminal and its operations. He worked with the construction team to ensure that the project remained on time and on budget. Mr. Waguespack also led technical and operational success on organic growth capital expansion projects.
Prior to Watco, Mr. Waguespack spent 11 years in a variety of roles at Kinder Morgan (KM). In his most recent role at KM, he was the Director of Business Development, responsible for business development activities across North America for KM’s bulk, breakbulk, and fertilizer businesses. In addition to this business development role, Mr. Waguespack also served in multiple Management roles. Over the course of Mr. Waguespack’s career at KM, he was responsible for Commercial Sales in KM’s Southeast Region, was the Fertilizer Commodity Group Lead that managed the bulk and liquid fertilizer portfolio throughout KM, and participated to various degrees in the evaluation, specification, system layout, estimation, and financial modeling of 1,000+ bulk projects. Mr. Waguespack was directly responsible for projects that deployed over $250M capital and was a member of the internal teams that resulted in an additional $750M of deployed capital.
Mr. Waguespack started his career and spent 5 years at River Consulting, Inc., a recognized leader in the development and design of intermodal and port terminal facilities for bulk and break bulk. His time with River Consulting was spent developing, designing, specifying, and constructing multi-modal terminal facilities across the United States and Canada.
