Mr. Douglas is a seasoned Planner, Project Manager and Bulk Handling Systems Designer with more than 30 years of progressive experience in the planning, layout, design, and operations of ports and dry bulk terminal facilities. Project experience includes conceptual development through final engineering and construction of import/export terminals, rail yards and train loading/unloading systems, barge and ship loading and unloading facilities, open and covered storage systems, dry bulk materials handling systems and related infrastructure.
Professional Experience

Prior to merging with InterMat in 2021, G. Douglas owned and operated Douglas Planning Group (DPG), providing professional consulting services to clients in the bulk materials handling industry. Services included experienced evaluations and analyses of port and terminal factors influencing expansion and modernization. Over its 11 years in operation DPG completed countless projects of ranging size, scope and complexity for projects across the United States and around the world.

Prior to DPG, Mr. Douglas gained extensive experience at TEC Inc. completing Master Plans, Maritime Business Plans and multi-use port and terminal plans/designs for numerous Port Authorities and private clients worldwide.

As the manager of the Project Development team at River Consulting/Kinder Morgan Terminals he completed facilities due diligence assignments and expansion projects spanning a wide variety of products and operations. With his experience working directly for bulk terminal operators, Mr. Douglas successfully planned and implemented expansion projects around ongoing operations at active facilities.

Mr. Douglas’ design and engineering experience also includes final design through fabrication of materials handling systems with River Consulting, Krupp Canada and El-Russ Aggregate Equipment and on-site project experience with Lafarge Construction Materials at the Exshaw Cement Plant in Alberta, Canada.
